Book Bags/Sac de livres

As most of you saw, the students have been given new "book" bags to take home every Thursday. "Books" is in quotation marks because it won't always be books that come home, but it will be some kind of literacy activity. The students were excited to start this new program and wanted to practice reading the "voici" book and practice the flash cards this afternoon! Inside the bag, there is a notice for you to read to explain how it will work. Don't forget to return them to school every Tuesday for new activities!

Jelly Bean Math

Today, we did Jelly Bean Math. The students each got an egg full of jelly beans. They had to sort them, graph them according to color, and then make a tally sheet to count them. They weren't allowed to eat them until they were all done. It was hard but they all managed to wait!

Class Photos

It was a great first day back from Spring Break. We journaled about the things we did over the holidays and it sounds like the kids had a great time! Just a reminder that tomorrow is class photos. Division 9 is usually the first one to go in the morning :)

The letter Jj

The letter we learned this week was 'j'. Because of the busy week, we didn't have as much time to work with the sound so we will review it when we come back from the break. You can still practice the sound at home, but don't worry if your child doesn't remember the sound or action.

Cherry Blossoms

The streets are aligned with beautiful Cherry Blossoms (les cerisiers) and today we looked at some of the flowers and then painted what we observed. The students used pastels and paint, and then wrote 'voici un cerisier'. It will be nice to come back to something spring-like after the break.

New Desks

On Monday, we changed spots at our desks. Ask your child where their new spot is, and the new friends they sit beside!

Months of the Year

Every morning during our calendar routine, we sing the months of the year. When it comes to the month of our birthday, we 'saute comme une grenouille' (jump like a frog). Ask your child to show you!

Letter of the Week

This week, we learned all about the letter 'v'. Have your child teach you the sound and action.

Go, Dog. Go!

Our week has been centered all around Go, Dog. Go! The play was excellent. The students really enjoyed it, although I think taking the school bus was just as much fun! Today, we journaled about our favorite part of the play. Then, we made crazy hats and asked "Aimes-tu mon chapeau?" "Non, je n'aime pas ton chapeau." "Au revoir, au revoir!" A funny part of the book the kids loved.
