Letter ‘Mm’
This week, we are learning all about the letter ‘m’. Ask your child to teach you the letter and sound in French. When you practice printing, remember to start the letters from the top!

‘m’ dit mmm
‘m’ dit mmm
‘m’ dit mmm
manger, manger
mmm, mmm, mmm
Halloween Door
Look at our classroom door! Thank you Naomi and Yuko for decorating it this morning. The kids love it and we hear lots of excited voices from the other students in the hallway. Halloween is in the air!

Lockdown Drill
Today at 2:00, we had a lockdown drill. This is when we practice staying hidden and quiet if there was ever a stranger in the school and we felt we were in danger. We had to stay quiet for 10 minutes. Even though some of them felt nervous, the students did a great job. I was very proud of them.

Drop Everything And Read!
Today was ‘drop everything and read’ (d.e.a.r.). Mme Eve made an announcement and the school stopped what they were doing and read for 10 minutes. Since the students don’t know how to read french yet, we practiced reading the pictures and making up the story ourselves.

Getting back into the green zone
The students have been doing a wonderful job at identifying their feelings. Now we are working on getting ourselves back into the green zone if we are feeling sad, angry, frustrated, or silly. Below are some pictures of some of the strategies we are learning. Ask her child to explain how it works.

Goodnight World
Friday, we read the story ‘Bonne nuit le monde’ (it’s in English but I translated as I read). Then we did this fun art project. It turned out really well! It is up on our bulletin board. Come in tomorrow and take a look!

Zones Check In
With our big buddies help, the students made a zones check-in chart to bring home. They can use this to help them identify how they are feeling. It is helpful to know how you are first feeling in order to know how get yourself back into the green zone. Ask them to explain the types of feelings they might be experiencing in each zone.
