In the students activity bags today, there is a book called 'sur'. This means 'on', as in on top of something. When reading the book with your child, you can:
-spell the word together, s-u-r spells sur
-focus on differentiating between 'le' and 'la' (this keeps their eyes on the words in stead of just guessing or memorizing)
-ask them to find certain letters on the page
-read 'sur la _____' and have them teach you the vocabulary word based on the picture (it is not expected that they know all the words, but they should be able to get at least half!).

(Temporary Backup) Buddy reading
We do buddy reading with our big buddy class. Right now we are focusing on pointing to the words as we read. This helps emergent readers to keep their eyes on the print and helps them to sound out new words.
Activity bags will not go home this week. It was a short week and an extra busy one for me so I did not get them done!

Les chenilles
Division 9 is home to 20 caterpillars! As we learn about their life cycle, we will watch them turn into chrysalis' and then hatch into butterflies over the next four weeks. The yellow stuff in the containers is food. It is a mixture of vitamins, minerals, and plant matter on a soy base. They eat almost all of it and triple in size before they begin to cocoon in 10 days.
This morning, we made studied them and drew and wrote our observations based on what we saw.

´ch’
The last complex sound we learned was ´ch’.
It makes the sound ´shh’ en francais.
Ask your child to teach you the sound and the action. See if they can read some of the words that contain that sound.
